My Story…
Anyone can be a target or perpetrator of family violence and we all have a role to play in prevention.
Although I didn’t realise it at the time, I now consider myself one of the lucky ones, after the universe redirected my life separating me from my perpetrator. I know others have not been so lucky.
Getting out of a DV or coercively controlled relationship is complex on all levels physically, pyschologically and financially, even when the universe is on your side. Support is needed on every level.
Moreover, ending family violence starts with creating a healthy relationship culture within our local communities, to remove the stigma and social barriers that often stop people from talking about their experiences with violence and asking for help when it is needed.
That’s why it’s important we encourage Caring Conversations…LISTEN, LEARN, TALK... that's our route to ending family violence.
I encourage you to join me in supporting causes like Run Against Violence that strive to create change through education programs promoting healthy relationships and violence prevention, along with offering resources for survivors in the fight against this silent epidemic 🙏💙🦋
